Teaching on Holidays

Why do we teach on holidays when N.J.S.A. 18A:25-3 says we don't have to do so?

The answer is that in fitting a school calendar into the political calendar, some compromises are mutually beneficial to teachers, students, and administrators. Thus the value of a winter and spring break might outweigh the benefit of celebrating certain state holidays, such as election day, Lincoln's Birthday, etc.
