Minutes for Meeting of NNJM

When: Sunday, May 21, 2017

Where: 71 Becker Avenue, Rochelle park, NJ (Angela’s house)

Who attended: Robert Curtis, Angela Daidone, Bill Holzmann

Bob called the meeting to order at 1:15 p.m. The minutes of the February 19 meeting were presented and accepted by unanimous vote.

Local Secretary’s report

1.       Angela gave a report on the testing status. In April, she tested four candidates and in May two additional candidates at the Rochelle Park Library, which has been very cooperative in scheduling dates. The response to Angela’s posting of the test dates on the national website has been good. The next test will likely be in the early fall as the library is closed on Saturdays for the summer. There are already several interested parties.

2.       Bob said the new method of having to download files from the national website (as opposed to being sent reports) is a bit inconvenient. Apparently, there have been lots of complaints from other local secretaries.

3.       Membership Chair was not present.

4.       The Gifted Youth Coordinator (not present) has not been in contact, but Bob plans to reach out to her as soon as possible.

Treasurer’s report

Bill presented a financial report which was unanimously approved by committee. He said he will check on tax-exempt status to possibly reduce printing costs.

Imprint Editor’s report

Juliette was not present. Bill said she is experiencing similar difficulty in obtaining data from national for the newsletter.

Webmaster’s report

Bob continues to post the minutes and other materials as needed. He also will add information about scholarship donation opportunities.

Program Coordinator’s report

Keith was not present.

Old Business

Bill is waiting for a final approval from the county on the date for the picnic, but plans are being made for Sunday, August 13 which will also include an executive meeting prior.

New Business

Bill has reached out to the scholarship winner for a photo opportunity and presentation of check. Angela will follow up with an interview for the newsletter and local newspapers.

Bill moved to adjourn the meeting at 1:40 p.m. with Angela seconding the motion.
