Minutes for Meeting of NNJM

Bob called the meeting to order at 12:17 p.m. The minutes of the January 17, 2016 meeting were presented and accepted by unanimous vote.
Local Secretary’s report
Nisha Zoeller has announced the results of the annual scholarship essay contest. Alexandra Soluri from Hillsdale was the winner. She also sent on nine essays (including the Wendy Sailer winner) to the next level of judging for regional, which will be determined over the summer.
Angela informed the committee that she is planning to set a date for testing, likely in late June and again in August. Testing to be held at the Rochelle Park Library.
Requests for a new SIGHT coordinator have gone unanswered, so Keith volunteered to take the position for the time being.
Lynn informed the committee that she has been updating the Facebook page for new members and will continue to post calendar events.
Stephanie has experienced a bit of a slowdown in participation for Gifted Youth Program events but will continue to schedule.
Bill was not present for the meeting. Bob will reach out to him for information and will share as soon as possible.
IMprint Editor’s report
Juliette was not present for the meeting. There remains a need for additional information for the monthly newsletter.
Keith said the website is being migrated to a new server and there may be a delay in new postings. He said the move should be complete by week’s end (May 27).
Program Coordinator’s report
Keith has been in touch with the Morris County Astronomy Club which will help coordinate with the Morris County Museum a lecture and telescope setting event in the coming weeks. He will finalize details (cost, date, etc.) and share the information as soon as it is available.
There was some discussion about the picnic. Bob will reach out to Bill for details (confirmation of date and location at Van Saun Park, permits, etc.). Lynn said she would like to include picnic info in an email to new members.
The next meeting beyond the picnic date is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, November 22, 2016 at Angela’s home.
Keith moved to adjourn the meeting at 12:47 p.m. with Angela seconding the motion.
