Local secretary’s report

a.
Bob moved that we appoint provisionally our test proctor and Gifted Child Coordinator until their paperwork is officially certified. The motion was unanimously approved.
b.
They are Miriam Schneidmill and Richard Smith, respectively.

Treasurer’s report

Bill presented the treasurer’s report, which included the 2013 budget, savings account and scholarship figures. Moneys spent for the annual picnic were not included in this quarterly report.

There has been another uptick in the number of IMprint electronic recipients which has reduced the amount spent on postage.

Bill also presented a sample of a “big check” which he printed out himself – as opposed to spending $50$70 on a purchased one. He will get in touch with Nisha to see about a photo opportunity with Shreyes Joshi, our scholarship winner.

IMprint editor’s report

Juliette repeated that she will happily accept editorial contributions to fill the newsletter pages.

Old business

Keith said he will send the executive committee the sample design of the magnets for our newsletter electronic recipients.

New business

Angela reported that she is going to look into Google Alerts and/or other electronic “clipping” avenues to keep track of Mensa in the news. Angela also has been sending out to the local papers and hyperlocal websites news of our testing and “who we are.”

Keith reported that he is in the process of putting together a program to reinstate the lecture series. His proposed topic is the use of evocative language and how it relates to poetry, lyrics and (rap) music. He has contacted several parties to participate in the panel and he is proposing a Nov. 23 date for the event.

Angela said she will look into securing a lecture hall or appropriate venue at Felician College; if not, perhaps a local high school or community school may be a possibility.

Angela moved to adjourn the meeting, with Bill seconding the motion. Meeting was adjourned at 11:34
