Minutes for Meeting of NNJM

When: Sunday, August 11, 2019

Where: Van Saun Park, Paramus (prior to Annual Picnic)

Who attended: Robert Curtis, Angela Daidone, Bill Holzmann, Keith Armonaitis, Ian Strock, Franck Mounier

Bob called the meeting to order at 11:15 a.m. The minutes of the May 5 meeting were presented and accepted by unanimous vote.

Local Secretary’s report

  1. Angela said she will resume testing in the fall after a break over the summer. After being certified as a proctor, Franck reported that he held three testing sessions in Morristown and is planning to schedule one a month in the fall. Franck also said he requested materials for the Culture Fair test from the national office but has yet to receive a response. Ian said he would look into it.

  2. Bob said he has been trying to reach our membership chair but with no luck yet.

  3. The Gifted Youth Coordinator parent is seeking ideas for new activities for the fall.

Treasurer’s report

Bill presented a financial report which was unanimously approved by committee.

Imprint Editor’s report

Since Juliette’s departure, Bob has resumed duties of the newsletter. Cost has risen slightly because the printed copy last month had additional pages. He also plans to expand the calendar to include other chapters’ events in upcoming issues.

Webmaster’s report

Bob continues to post the minutes and other materials as needed. Keith presented a bill for hosting and we are paid through 2021.

Program Coordinator’s report

Keith announced he would be participating less due to other personal commitments. Franck discussed the possibility of having orientation sessions for new members; the committee agreed to take it under advisement.

Old Business

Bills for the picnic were submitted and paid.

New Business

The committee agreed that there is a need for a volunteer recruiting initiative, including the new member sessions (as noted above).

The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Angela’s house. All are welcome to attend.

Angela moved to adjourn the meeting at 11:55 p.m. with Keith seconding the motion. Picnic began immediately after.
