Bob called the meeting to order at 1:16 p.m. Minutes of August 4 meeting were accepted.

Local secretary’s report

Bob reported that test proctor Miriam Schneidmill had four people test during October; our Gifted Child Coordinator Richard Smith has not yet launched any programs. Further discussion is pending.

Dates are also set for scholarship essay reading in January. Info was printed in current issue of Imprint.

Treasurer’s report

Bill presented the treasurer’s report, which included updated figures for budget, savings account, etc. We discussed the possibility of advertising for additional scholarship funds, and making the “ask” for larger donations. We are on target with budget so far.

IMprint editor’s report

Juliette reported that she is still in need of editorial contributions for the monthly newsletter. We discussed several ideas, including tapping into the national database for articles. Angela said she is willing to write on different topics.

Webmaster’s report

Bob reported that he will continue to post meeting minutes and his column “Scribbles” on the website after it appears in IMprint.

Program coordinator’s report

Keith reported that plans for the Dec. 7 lecture series have been going well. The three speakers have been secured for the event scheduled at Union County College, which has been most cooperative with our efforts (a large lecture hall and audio is included in the $500 rental fee). Plans are to have to the event filmed (gratis). The speakers will publicize their appearance on their own websites and through their own media outlets.

Keith added that the Central NJ, Greater NY and Lehigh Valley Mensa chapters will advertise on their websites, too. He will finalize the agenda for the program this week and send out contracts asap to the speakers: Damian Hess, Amiri Baracka and Stephen Bard.

In the event of cancellation due to inclement weather or other circumstance, our fee to UCC will be rolled into another event date.

Fees and expenses were discussed and approved by the Excomm, with Angela moving to approve and Keith seconding the motion.

Old business

Keith reported that the project to buy magnets for members who receive the Imprint electronically has been temporarily put on hold due to his work on the lecture series.

New business

Keith said he has renewed the domain for the website at a cost of $34 for two years (DomainDiscover.com). When it comes up for renewal again, we may opt to extend the subscription time if it is cost effective.

The next meeting is scheduled for Sunday February 9, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Angela’s home.

Angela called to adjourn the meeting at 2:18 p.m. Keith seconded the motion.
