Scribbles
by Bob Curtis, Local Secretary
November, 2016
November is the eleventh and penultimate month of the year in the Julian and Gregorian
Calendars and one of four months with the length of 30 days. November was the ninth
month of the ancient Roman calendar. November retained its name (from the Latin
novem meaning "nine") when January and February were added to the Roman calendar.
November is the month of the big US election on the 8th. It is also the month in even
numbered years that our local group requests nominations for our elected positions of
local secretary, assistant local secretary, and treasurer.
The Leonids meteor shower typically reaches its peak around November 17th.
Nisha Zoeller, our scholarship chair, is getting ready for the annual scholarship essay
judging which will take place on January 29, 2017. She needs some members to
volunteer to do the judging. Please help out! You can contact her at
nishazoeller@gmail.com or 973-541-4881.
Activities for our gifted youth are ongoing. Check with Stephanie Janssens on Facebook

me that she plans on setting up a tour of the UN and a tour of a Llama farm as well as
setting up a monthly game night. NNJM's young mensan Facebook page is at
